FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  • What products do you offer? We offer pasture-raised poultry and forest-raised pork products. 
  • What does forest-raised mean? Our pigs live in large fenced (hot wire) areas of the forest where they are free to forage, roam and nap as they like. Our forest have both deciduous and evergreen trees including oak, maple, spruce, hemlock and cedar. We supplement our animals' naturally foraged food with Washington grown, non-GMO grains that are corn and soy free. Their feed is comprised mainly of wheat, barley and peas. All grains are grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. During the winter the pigs are given covered shelter and deep bedding. 
  • What breed of pigs do you raise? We raise a variety of pigs including Berkshires, Herefords and Gloucestershire Old Spots as well as crosses of these and others.  
  • Are you offering bulk discounts or whole or half pig shares? We are now offering a variety of bulk boxes as well as our version of a half pig share. If you are already enjoying the selection of pork cuts we offer, this is a great opportunity to stock up and save! The share is processed USDA and not customizable. 
  • How is the poultry raised? Our chickens are raised on pasture in mobile pens that are moved daily to provide access to fresh grass, seeds and bugs.  Their forage is supplemented with Washington grown, non-GMO grains that are corn and soy free. Their feed is comprised mainly of wheat, barley and peas. All grains are grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.
  • Is your poultry free-range? Our chickens are not free-range. They are pasture-raised which means we raise them in wire enclosed mobile pens on pasture. They have access to fresh air, grass, seeds, bugs and sunlight.
  • Are your animals grain fed? Yes. We supplement our animals' naturally foraged food with Washington grown, non-GMO grains that are corn and soy free. Their feed is comprised mainly of wheat, barley and peas. All grains are grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.
  • Are your animals grain finished? Our animals are provided grain for the length of their lives. We supplement our animals naturally foraged food with Washington grown, non-GMO grains that are corn and soy free. Their feed is comprised mainly of wheat, barley and peas.
  • Are your products organically certified? We are not a certified organic farm. We incorporate our animals into the farm in a regenerative way that supports healthy land stewardship. We source our supplemental grains directly from Washington farmers that are committed to growing non-GMO grain without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. We never use antibiotics or growth hormones.
  • Where can we find your products? You can find us regularly at 2 local farmers markets throughout the year (see below). We also offer our full line of products through South Sound Fresh, offering weekly local delivery to parts of Mason and Thurston CountiesOur whole chickens, whole legs and livers can often be found at Marlene's Market and Deli in Tacoma and Federal Way and a variety of chicken and pork can be found at the Kitsap Community Food Co-op in Bremerton. Beast & Cleaver, a family owned butcher shop in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle also offers our pasture-raised whole chickens and forest-raised pork. Order online for quick and easy pickup at farmers markets or choose on-farm pickup. 
  • Which farmers markets do you attend? We attend the Olympia Farmers Market (Saturdays, January thru March and Saturdays and Sundays, April thru December ) and Proctor Farmers Market (Saturdays).
  • Where is the farm? We have a 50-acre farm outside of Elma, WA in the beautiful Chehalis River Valley. 69 Taylors Ferry Rd., Elma, WA 98541.
  • Can we visit the farm? We believe in the importance of consumers developing personal relationships with those that produce their food. Email info@chehalisvalleyfarm.com to arrange a farm visit. Visits are by appointment only.
  • What poultry do you raise? The main meat chickens that we raise are Cornish-cross. We also raise White Broad-Breasted turkeys for fall harvest. 
  • Do you have eggs for sale? At this time we only raise meat birds and do not have eggs for sale.
  • Do you have beef? We do not raise or offer beef at this time.
  • Do you ship? We do not offer shipping at this time.
  • Do you deliver? We are not offering delivery at this time. 
  • Do you offer wholesale pricing? Email info@chehalisvalleyfarm.com for pricing, terms and availability of wholesale items.
  • Can I pre-order products? When we add products to our inventory, we give priority ordering to our newsletter recipients. Please sign up for our newsletter and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates. You can reserve products in inventory for farmers market or on-farm pickup on our website. 
  • Where are the animals processed? Our pork is USDA processed at Revel Meats in Canby, Oregon. Revel Meats is a small, locally owned butcher Animal Welfare Approved and believes in humane handling of livestock. We have a WSDA-inspected poultry processing facility on our farm that allows us to process the birds on-site, minimizing the stress and discomfort of the animals and maximizing the quality and freshness of the products. 
  • Are your products always frozen? Our products are frozen immediately after processing to ensure freshness.
